Chapter 49-6

Operation Pony Express: Riding in Honor of Grizz

by | Sep 5, 2026

This morning, members of Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association® Chapter 49-6 were joined by members from other CVMA® chapters, friends, family, and supporters for Operation Pony Express the final escort of a memorial bench created in honor of Grizz.

The bench was crafted and transported from California by Operation Creekside, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting families who have lost loved ones to military suicide. Operation Creekside works alongside 22 Too Many, whose mission is to honor service members and veterans lost to suicide, support their families, and keep their stories and memories alive.

Our part of the journey began at the Comfort Inn in Tooele, where riders gathered to escort the vehicle carrying Grizz’s bench to American Fork.

The turnout spoke for itself. Members from multiple CVMA® chapters rode together, while others followed in vehicles to help keep the formation safe. Everyone came together for one purpose: to support Sarah and her family and honor Grizz.

The bench is more than a memorial. It is a place for Sarah, family, friends, and anyone who knew Grizz to sit, remember, reflect, and hopefully find some peace. A place where his stories and memory can live on.

Thank you to everyone who showed up this morning. Thank you to all the participating CVMA® chapters, riders, drivers, organizers, Operation Creekside, 22 Too Many, and everyone who helped bring Grizz’s memorial home.

Days like today remind us how quickly life moves. We sometimes assume there will always be another ride, another phone call, or another chance to tell someone what they mean to us.

Don’t assume they know.

Say it. Say it often. Mean it.

Today we helped bring Grizz’s memorial bench home. More importantly, we reminded a family that they don’t have to travel the road alone.

Rest easy, Grizz.
